Elizabeth Wettlauffer⬆️

Canada's most notorious serial killer/nurse. Murdered 8 patients in cold blood, and attempted murder of 6 others.  The CNO (College of Nurses Ontario) had recieved multiple complaints regarding this nurse for suspicious and unethical behavior and was never disciplined.

She was only brought to justice because she turned herself in

If she had not, she likley would have carried on her murder spree, Because the CNO did nothing, regarding all complaints against her.

She is described as one of the worst serial killers in Canadian history, just around the corner from us in Woodstock, Ontario.

The Illusion of Inherent Integrity in Healthcare Professionals:

The titles of "doctor" and "nurse" often carry an implicit assumption of ethical conduct and high moral standards. However, this is a dangerous misconception.

These are a few examples of healthcare professionals who have abused their positions of trust and committed heinous crimes, including murder.

Unfortunately, governing bodies like medical and nursing colleges often err on the side of leniency when faced with complaints against their members. This reluctance stems from the deeply ingrained belief that individuals in these professions inherently possess the utmost integrity.

As a result, numerous complaints against problematic healthcare providers are often dismissed or downplayed. This failure to take initial concerns seriously can have devastating consequences, allowing these individuals to continue their harmful practices and potentially escalate their crimes, as evidenced in documented cases of serial-killing healthcare professionals.

The protection of the public necessitates a fundamental shift in this approach. Complaints against healthcare professionals must be thoroughly investigated and taken seriously, regardless of the individual's professional standing. This proactive stance is crucial to preventing further harm and ensuring patient safety.
